An impressive event!
The 7th Smart Country Convention from 15 to 17 October 2024 in Berlin was a central meeting point for the digitalization of public administration.
With over 18,000 participants, more than 400 partners and over 650 speakers on seven stages, the event proved to be the largest platform for smart cities and the digital state in Germany. On 17,000 m² of exhibition space, the convention offered a comprehensive stage for the exchange of knowledge and ideas on the digitalization of public services.
Diverse program and prominent speakers
The program impressed with its wide range of content: over 300 presentations and workshops highlighted key topics such as e-government, smart cities and digital innovations in public administration. There was also a particular focus on the growing international participation in the Smart Country Con with speakers and exhibitors from over 10 countries, including the President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs.
The appearances of several top German politicians were also a special highlight. In addition to the patron, Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser, the Minister of Agriculture Cem Özdemir and Digital Minister Dr. Volker Wissing were also represented. Their commitment shows how important the digital transformation is for the future of public administration.
Jens Krumm and the Happy Path method
Another highlight was the presentation by our CEO Jens Krumm on October 16 at 2:45 p.m., which focused on the topic of "Addressing target groups with the Happy Path method". The method was particularly well received by representatives of public institutions, as it shows ways in which digital offers can be specifically tailored to the needs of citizens. The presentation offered many practical insights and concrete recommendations for action. The full presentation (just under 15 minutes) is already available as a video on the Smart Country Convention website. Further information on the Happy Path method can be found at pluswerk.digital/happypath.
+Pluswerk at the TYPO3 stand: focus on accessibility and AI
As a partner, +Pluswerk was prominently represented at the TYPO3 stand and was able to provide numerous impulses at the trade fair. In particular, the topics of artificial intelligence (AI) and accessibility met with great interest among trade visitors from public administration. Digitization strategies and specific project ideas were discussed in many conversations. A particular highlight was once again our board game "Barrier-free Memo", which met with a positive response and raised awareness of barrier-free digital solutions in a fun way.
In addition, +Pluswerk presented the new University Study 2024, which was available in printed form at our stand. The study examines 450 online presences of colleges and universities from the DACH region according to various parameters of technical and communicative quality. The results show those responsible in educational institutions what decisions they need to make now and what options are available to them. The study is available free of charge for university members at pluswerk.digital/hochschulstudie.
Conclusion: Germany is becoming (more) digital
The Smart Country Convention 2024 showed how relevant the topics of digitalization and innovative technologies are for public administration in general. For +Pluswerk, participation in the trade fair was a complete success. At the TYPO3 stand, we were not only able to emphasize the relevance of AI and accessibility, but also discuss concrete project ideas and digitization strategies in many conversations with decision-makers from the public sector. In particular, the interest in practical solutions for optimizing administrative processes and barrier-free digital offerings showed that the public sector is ready to take further steps in the digital transformation.
